Get Ready for Change

The season is changing around here - finally - and that has me wondering what you do to get ready for change. As the weather warms up, what mindset changes need to happen to get ready for what's coming next? Beyond the changing of the weather and all that comes with spring, are you getting ready for a big move, a job change, a new baby, an addition to your family by marriage, or even just gearing up for summer vacation? It all kind of works the same. Your mind becomes consumed with everything that's about to change, and that can be overwhelming, but it's also empowering.

We've lived in this house for about two-and-a-half years. We've settled in and gotten comfortable. There are piles of things where they don't belong, but where do they belong? Some of them never really had a place, so they just ended up in a corner. For example, my youngest got a little tent for his birthday. It's now in the corner of the living room where it totally shouldn't be, but where else should it go??? My mindset is shifting to consider what a potential buyer would think if he or she walked in the door. We're packing up non-essentials and moving them into temporary storage and getting ready for a moving sale. Construction is underway at the farm as we prepare the first house for it's new residents. There are so many things to do!

Our family is also welcoming a new member. My brother is engaged! Yay! The kids are practicing calling her "Aunt Maggie," and I'm considering ways to make my new sister-in-law feel welcome.

As we move into a new season, what needs to change in YOUR mindset? Do you need to get out of a rut and get your body moving again? Is your daily Bible study time in need of a shake up? Is there a relationship that needs to be re-prioritized? Is it time to shut off the screens for a while to infuse some creativity into your family life?

I'm taking some practical steps, like setting a goal to pack at least one box every day this week and find better homes for things like that tent.

Ask God to show you any changes in your mindset that need to shift this week. If you want accountability for them, I'd love to hear what they are. You can comment below or respond via email or private message. These blog posts are all about YOU and I love to hear how they're impacting your life.

Love,

Kimberly
